What you can do with Obsidian
Export to any vault folder
Point Distill at the folder in your vault where lectures live. Every processed lecture becomes a markdown file in that folder.
Auto-generated wikilinks
Concept map nodes become [[wikilinks]] automatically — connecting your lectures into Obsidian's graph view without manual work.
Frontmatter with searchable metadata
Each file includes course, date, duration, tags, and confidence scores in YAML frontmatter, ready for Dataview queries.
Flashcards as Obsidian Spaced Repetition
Compatible with the community Spaced Repetition plugin — your Distill cards become an Obsidian-native review queue.

Frequently asked questions
Does this use Obsidian Sync?
No — it works with any vault, synced or local. The plugin writes files to disk; however you sync your vault is your business.
What's the markdown format?
Standard CommonMark + YAML frontmatter + [[wikilinks]]. Code blocks and LaTeX are preserved.
Will this mess up my existing notes?
No. Distill only writes to the folder you specify and creates files with the prefix "distill-" by default.
