Treat Google Drive as your cold-storage layer. Distill stores active lectures in our database; for long-term backup, this integration keeps every artifact in a folder you control.
What you can do with Drive
Automatic folder structure
Distill creates a root folder (/Koydo Distill) and organizes by semester → course → lecture date. Your files, your structure, your Drive.
Audio + transcript + PDF summary
Each lecture folder contains the original audio, the Whisper-generated transcript, and a polished PDF summary ready to share.
FERPA-friendly deletion
Delete a lecture in Distill and we remove it from both systems. Delete from Drive only and we keep Distill untouched.
Shared-folder study groups
Share the lecture folder with classmates directly via Google Drive's sharing model. No Distill account required for viewers.

Frequently asked questions
How much Drive storage does this use?
A typical 60-minute lecture is ~30MB audio + ~50KB transcript + ~100KB PDF. Budget ~1GB per month of active coursework.
Can I use Shared Drives (formerly Team Drives)?
Yes. Select a Shared Drive as the root folder and team members inherit access.
Does Google read the files?
Google only stores the files; they don't train on your private Drive content (per Google's terms).
